So much has happened this year, and it’s been an absolutely incredible journey. For the last few months, something pretty secretive has been in the works that involves a major climbing magazine, distributed worldwide. Rock and Ice Magazine was created by climbers, for rock climbers, ice climbers, and mountaineers. I am so blessed to be featured in in a section of their magazine (issue 247 – page 58 & 59). I was given an amazing platform to share my story, and hopefully inspire others to push the limits and achieve what they thought was impossible.

At this point in my life, I don’t care if people remember my name, or my face; I just want my story to be remembered. Some of us have fought for our lives, lost almost everything, and come back stronger, and filled with more passion than ever! If I was told 7 years ago that I would be here today, I would have laughed, and told them there was no way. I was the girl who was too frail and scared to even walk up one flight of stairs. I was scared of adventure, and didn’t have a support group who believed in my ability to accomplish the impossible; to get my life back again. For those who stuck around, I’m forever thankful. For those who didn’t, it’s okay – I wouldn’t change a thing, and am where I’m supposed to be.

There are a number of people who I want to thank who have supported me in this journey over the last few years and beyond:

• First and foremost, my son – without him urging me while I was sick to become an American Ninja Warrior, I might not be here today. I pushed by body to it’s limits this year, and it appears to be paying off – I may just make that dream a reality (more to come!).
• My parents, and Nana – They have always been there for me, loving me, encouraging me, and showing excitement as I became stronger and began embracing life. They never tell me to slow down. They support my desire to push my heart to its limits to see what I am actually capable of becoming. That type of support is rare.
• Duane Raleigh and Alison Osius, for taking a chance on an unknown climber, and publishing my story. I’m sure I was not their first pick for a feature, but they believed in my story, and in me. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
• And finally….. Dave Burdick. This is an absolutely incredible photographer who has chased me up rocks, across boulders, into the desert, and on top of mountains with his camera. His photography helped me get here, and highlighted me in ways I have never seen myself. I also have the privilege of calling him my boyfriend. Before we were ever where we are today, he encouraged me to get out of the house, workout, climb, and do whatever it took to get me to where I wanted to be.
